There is palpable tension in the Ekiti State Capital, Ado Ekiti, over the death of a Christ Apostolic Pastor, Andrew Omowaye, who died in the hands of the officers of Federal Road Safety Corp following a harrowing ordeal.

ThePage News gathered that Omowaye was going for Ministration at the weekend, when he was flagged down by FRSC officials along Pathfinder road in Ado

Omowaye was on the wheel because he refused to allow his son ,who should have driven the car, handle it because his driver’s
licence expired few days before.

During the routine check by the FRSC members who flagged Omowaye down, the vehicle papers were discovered intact, but did not have fire extinguisher . The officers insisted he must pay a fine and that a paper would be written to the effect for him to pay.

Though the officers promised to write out the fine paper for the Pastor to enable him pay, they abandoned him on the spot attending to other things.

” He was there with them for over an hour while he pleaded with them to attend to him on time so he could leave because he told them that though he was going to church, he started feeling week standing on the road indefinitely on the officers instruction.

” But the officers ignored his plea until he fainted on the spot while still pleading with them to allow him go.

” After the officers’ tried unsuccessfully to bring him back to life, they moved him to the hospital where he was pronounced brought in dead and immediately the officers disappeared , leaving Omowaye’s dead body in the hospital” our source explained.

It was gathered that, while escaping from the hospital, witnesses to the incident were able to capture the face of one of the officers and their vehicle’s number plate.

The FRSC Officers have refused to turn up despite Omowaye’s family effort to make them accept responsibility for the death, a family source informed.

Meanwhile, family sources said the issue has been reported to the police and are waiting further action from the FRSC management.
