SSP Flaunts Evergreen Credential Says: That’s My Legacy

Afrojuju creator, Sir Shina Peters has identified classics as the most desirable legacy of musicians.

Featuring in a recent episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, Sir Shina Peters said it is the dream of every musician to have evergreen songs at the end of their career.

The 67-year-old music veteran said he feels accomplished having bagged four classics, claiming that he has more classics than the late American pop star, Michael Jackson.

“The only thing you can show for showbiz at the end is how many evergreens you have produced. To my credit, I have four evergreens. Even Michael Jackson has just two; Off The Wall and Thriller.

“So, if I have four, I am accomplished,” he maintained.

Sir Shina Peters, however, expressed dissatisfaction over the current state of the Nigerian music industry.

He lamented that most of the standards he and his contemporaries worked hard to set have been “bastardised” by the present crops of artists, adding that he has not churning out new songs because the environment does not encourage it.
